Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process for the improvement works on the younger children's play area at Whitaker Park was managed by Rossendale Borough Council. Despite initially moving forward with an open competition below the financial threshold, the process underwent a cancellation. This was due to the necessity of reassessing the budget to ensure a scheme that is both safe and appealing could be developed without exceeding the financial constraints. The project initially set for completion by 13th March 2026 included phases from November 2025. This public procurement was classified under the industry categories of landscaping work for parks and leisure equipment, with the anticipated site located in Rawtenstall, United Kingdom.

The opportunity for improvement works at Whitaker Park in Rawtenstall came with a project budget initially set at £90,000. This tender presents opportunities for businesses specialising in playground refurbishment, landscaping, or the supply of leisure equipment. Companies proficient in inclusivity in design, safety, and construction of durable play areas, particularly those catering to children aged 2 to 10, would be well-suited to compete. As the process is likely to be reissued, it remains a viable opportunity for SMEs particularly those able to provide social, economic, and environmental benefits locally within Rawtenstall and the Rossendale Valley. Interested businesses are encouraged to stay informed, as recalibration of project financials may create renewed potential for involvement.
