Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process, managed by NHS Surrey Heartlands Integrated Care Board, concerns the Talking Therapies service under the procurement category of health services. This initiative focuses on providing community-based psychological therapies for common mental health issues in the Surrey region. The procurement is at the award stage, with Mind Matters selected as the service provider effective from 15 September 2025, for a contract valued at £5,392,966. Following the Provider Selection Regime, the standstill period concludes on 26 September 2025, allowing for any representations. This limited procedure bypassed prior competition due to regulatory provisions, aiming to enhance access to mental health support across Surrey.

The Talking Therapies contract offers significant business growth opportunities for providers specialising in health services, particularly those adept at delivering psychological therapies. SMEs providing Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, counselling, or digital mental health solutions might find participation beneficial. This contract underlines the importance of aligning with NHS England’s mental health priorities, which emphasise innovative and flexible service delivery models involving collaboration with local employment services and GP-led pathways. With a focus on reducing health inequalities and improving care access, businesses that can offer evidence-based, patient-centred approaches tailored to diverse community needs will be notably well-positioned to succeed.
