Summary of the contracting process

The Forestry Commission is overseeing a procurement process titled "Low Loader Transport of Forestry Machinery Framework - Thetford Forest" focused on the transportation of forestry vehicles. This open competition under the services category allows for hiring goods-transport vehicles with drivers, primarily operating within Thetford Forest, with possible extensions further afield in the UK region coded as UKH1. The procurement is in the tender stage, reflecting active engagement from the contracting authority. Key dates include the enquiry period end on 30th September 2025, and the deadline for tender submissions on 7th October 2025. With a framework agreement allowing up to two participants, this procurement is positioned as a below-threshold opportunity with an estimated contract value of £90,000 gross, translating to £75,000 in net terms.

This tender presents an excellent growth opportunity for businesses specialising in transport services requiring heavy-duty machinery. It is especially suited for small to medium enterprises (SMEs) due to its framework agreement structure favouring direct awards within a defined methodology, encouraging quick and efficient service provision. Companies adept in logistics solutions capable of handling vehicles up to 65-tonne payloads will find this opportunity particularly advantageous. Furthermore, it offers a potential four-year contract period, ending in October 2029, supporting stability and long-term planning for successful bidders. The award criteria balance quality and pricing, ensuring a fair competition environment while maintaining high standards in service delivery.
