The London Borough of Brent recently completed the procurement for a Community Equipment Service through a direct award procedure, due to urgency and statutory compliance under the Care Act 2014. This contract, starting on 22nd September 2025, and potentially extending till September 2028, focuses on the delivery of essential community equipment supporting independence, hospital discharge, and care at home for both adults and children within the UK region UKI72. The direct award to Provide Care Solutions Ltd illustrates a solid opportunity to engage in delivering social and health services while maintaining compliance with legal provisions and ensuring the needs of vulnerable populations are met expediently.

This created an urgent need to secure continuity of statutory services under the Care Act 2014. Risks include potential delays in service mobilisation, supply chain disruption, and gaps in equipment availability or maintenance during the transition. These could impact hospital discharge timelines, people's ability to live independently, and safeguarding outcomes. Mitigation measures include a phased transition with interim 'patchwork' arrangements, contingency planning for high-priority equipment, and collaborative oversight from the eight-borough consortium.",
