Summary of the contracting process

LIFT SCHOOLS procured a cloud-based Learning Management System (LMS) to replace its existing platform. The system is intended to become the central hub for compliance training, professional development and organisational capability, supporting the trust’s people-focused strategy through high-performance technology. It will manage learning and development activities and connect with the trust’s human resources information system, currently iTrent from MHR Global. This is a software and education service requirement, covering an industry-specific software package and adult and other education services. Delivery is across the United Kingdom, supporting LIFT SCHOOLS as a sub-central public authority and education organisation.

The procurement is complete and was awarded to THRIVE LEARNING LIMITED. The award was made on 13 July 2026 and the contract was signed on 5 August 2026. The contract value is £183,000 gross. It runs from 1 January 2027 to 31 December 2029, with two possible 12-month extensions, allowing a maximum end date of 31 December 2031. LIFT SCHOOLS used an open competitive flexible procedure with three stages: initial participation and evaluation, demonstrations and best and final offer for shortlisted suppliers, then sandbox testing for the final two. Eleven bids were received, with eight reaching the final stage. Evaluation covered charges, technical and functional quality, demonstrations and sandbox performance.

This requirement indicates demand for a mature cloud LMS that can replace an incumbent platform and operate as the central learning and development system for a sizeable education trust. Credible competitors would need to demonstrate strong compliance training, professional development and organisational capability functions, together with reliable integration to an HR information system such as iTrent. The buying route favours suppliers able to meet minimum standards, explain technical and functional quality clearly, demonstrate a working product, provide a competitive final offer and support hands-on sandbox evaluation. A strong offer would therefore combine education-sector understanding, scalable software, implementation capability, integration expertise and evidence of dependable system performance.
