Summary of the contracting process

East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust is currently in the planning stage of procuring a Communication Platform (Software App) aimed at enhancing clinical communication within the Trust. Located in Canterbury, the procurement is classified under the "Software package and information systems" industry, with an emphasis on developing a cloud-hosted app used mainly by doctors for clinical workflows like referrals and handovers. This initiative is set to gather market insights, requiring interested providers to have an existing, clinically certified product ready for deployment. Key dates include a scheduled market engagement milestone due on 10th November 2025, and potential tender communications planned for 12th December 2025.

This tender presents a significant business growth opportunity for companies within the software development and healthcare technology sectors, particularly those with expertise in clinical safety-certified solutions. SMEs with cloud-based communication platforms that fulfil these requirements are well-suited to compete, particularly given the Trust's interest in understanding supplier capabilities, market trends, and pricing structures. The contract period is scheduled to commence on 1st March 2026 and conclude on 31st March 2028, offering a substantial engagement period for the successful bidder to work closely with the Trust.
