Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process initiated by East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust is currently in the planning stage, concerning a Communication Platform (Software App) for clinical use. This project falls under the industry category of Software package and information systems, with a primary focus on medical professionals, specifically doctors, using cloud-hosted applications for clinical workflows like Referrals and Handovers. The procurement process is being conducted as a tender engagement, with the milestone for market engagement scheduled to be completed by the 10th of November 2025. Located in Canterbury, the procurement aims to source a ready-to-deploy application ensuring clinical safety certification including DCB0129, with future communication planned by the 12th of December 2025.

This tender opportunity offers substantial growth prospects for businesses capable of providing a reliable Communication Platform that's ready for deployment in a clinical setting. Companies that already have DCB0129-certified software solutions would be well-suited to compete. The project, valued at £288,000 gross, involves a contract period from March 2026 to March 2028. This is a prime opportunity for software providers specializing in medical applications, particularly those with a track record of innovation in cloud-hosted solutions, to establish a significant foothold within the NHS framework by offering their expertise and ready-to-deploy products to East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust.
