Summary of the contracting process

The Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is at the planning stage for the procurement of a NECTAR Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system. This initiative, taking place in Newcastle upon Tyne, seeks to enhance critical care transport services across the North East and Cumbria with an advanced patient administration solution. Key dates include a pre-market engagement deadline on 7th November 2025. The project involves the procurement of goods, particularly within the medical software development and patient-administration systems sectors, with the contract expected to commence on 1st April 2026. The Trust is conducting pre-market engagements to assess viability before moving forward with a formal tender.

This tender process presents significant opportunities for growth in the medical IT sector. Companies specialising in electronic patient records, particularly those supplying mobile, auditable, and adaptable systems, stand well-positioned to participate. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with existing systems compatible with such requirements may find this an attractive opportunity to expand their market presence. The project's estimated value is £150,000 to £180,000, providing a lucrative incentive for established providers in the industry to engage with this regional healthcare enhancement effort.
