Summary of the contracting process

The NHS Birmingham and Solihull Integrated Care Board is currently in the planning stage for the Birmingham and Solihull WorkWell programme, an initiative focused on providing early-intervention work and health support. This service aims to overcome health-related barriers to employment and create a gateway to additional support services. The event for potential delivery partners is scheduled for 9th December 2025, located at The Core Theatre Solihull, with the planning milestone set to be completed by 8th December 2025. The contracting process involves NHS Birmingham and Solihull Integrated Care Board in collaboration with NHS Arden and Greater East Midlands Commissioning Support Unit acting as a procuring entity. The procurement method focuses on expanding the integrated work and health services in Birmingham, with an anticipated contract period starting 1st July 2026 and concluding on 30th June 2030.

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) stand to benefit significantly from participating, as the framework agreement supports these types of organisations. By engaging in this project, businesses can expand their footprint in the public health and employment sector while contributing to a vital social service in Birmingham and Solihull. The project encourages diverse business involvement, offering a platform to work alongside NHS bodies and local councils, fostering growth through collaboration and innovation in employment support services.

Planning Information

NHS Birmingham and Solihull WorkWell is an early-intervention work and health support and assessment service, providing holistic support to help people overcome health-related barriers to employment, and a single, joined-up gateway to other support services. Over the last six months the pilot has helped hundreds of people in East Birmingham and North Solihull to address their work and health needs so that they can start or stay in employment. As we develop our ambitions for further integration of work and health services and consider potential expansion of the WorkWell programme in Birmingham, we are planning a market engagement event in advance of developing a delivery model for the service for the future. We would therefore invite organisations with a potential interest in the delivery of an expanded Birmingham and Solihull WorkWell service to hear about our service development to date, and our future plans and to participate in discussions with the wider market alongside the ICB, and colleagues from Birmingham and Solihull Councils. We are expecting demand for places to be high, so to allow as many different providers as possible to be represented, would ask that each organisation sends only one representative. The event will take place as follows : DATE: 9th December TIME: 10.30am to 12.30pm VENUE: The Core Theatre Solihull, Theatre Square, Touchwood, Homer Road, Solihull, B91 3RG Room – The Studio If you would like to join us for the event, please register using the following link: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/workwell-market-event-solihull-tickets-1963877428254?aff=oddtdtcreator.
