Summary of the contracting process

The Felixstowe Dock and Railway Company is seeking a contractor for the design and construction of a new office building called the "New Hutchison Unity Building" in Felixstowe, UK. The procurement process follows a 'selective' procurement method, executed via a 'Competitive flexible procedure'. The tender, associated with the industry categories of modular and portable buildings as well as commercial and office block construction work, is currently in the "Tender" stage. The project involves a two-stage design and build approach, aiming for completion between March 2026 and December 2026. Interested suppliers must express their interest by 30th November 2025, with contracts expected to be awarded by 4th March 2026. The total contract value is approximately £9,000,000, with the possibility for renewal and additional options.

This tender presents significant growth opportunities for businesses specialising in hybrid construction methods that combine modular design with traditional building techniques. Companies with experience in managing large-scale projects, offering innovative construction solutions, and demonstrating a strong commitment to sustainability will find this tender particularly well-suited to their capabilities. This process requires suppliers to engage in collaborative planning and provide transparency in cost management, thereby favouring those with expertise in both pre-construction collaboration and execution. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are also encouraged to apply, with appropriate criteria in place to assess financial capacity and organisational capability.
