Summary of the contracting process

Wem Town Council invites bids for their Streetlighting Maintenance contract, based in Wem, Shropshire. This tender is part of an active procurement stage and focuses on services related to street-lighting maintenance. The contract includes maintaining, inspecting, and possibly replacing the town's 234 streetlights, most of which were upgraded to LED in 2018. A 'report only' repair service, annual condition surveys, electrical inspections, and concrete column replacements are also part of the work. Bidders must submit their quotes by 5th December 2025, with the tender period closing at noon, and bid opening set for 1 PM the same day. The procurement method follows an open procedure, allowing for broad participation.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses involved in streetlight maintenance or electrical services, especially those equipped with G39 and IPAF training and NICIEC or equivalent accreditations. Companies that value sustainability and carbon efficiency, with a strong local presence, will find this opportunity particularly advantageous. The contract runs for three years with a possible extension of an additional 24 months based on performance. Thus, firms capable of offering reliable, sustainable, and cost-effective solutions will have the potential to establish long-term relationships with Wem Town Council and leverage this contract for future work opportunities.
