Summary of the contracting process

Yorkshire Housing Limited is managing a public procurement process for the repair of balconies at Northfield Mews in Wetherby, West Yorkshire. This process, currently in the planning stage, focuses on remedial work for steel-framed balconies affected by corrosion. The project is categorised under 'works' and is pertinent to the construction industry, specifically those specialising in balcony repairs. Stakeholders are encouraged to demonstrate interest by contacting the procurement team by 11th November 2025. The contract, valued at up to £120,000, is scheduled to commence from 1st December 2025 and conclude by 30th March 2026, with a provision for extension till 30th April 2026.

The tender offers significant growth opportunities for contractors with expertise in balcony restoration, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs). Firms capable of handling structural repairs and corrosion treatment would find this project particularly relevant. As this initiative is led by a public authority at the sub-central government level, it represents a valuable chance for businesses to enhance their portfolio within the region, potentially opening avenues for further collaboration with Yorkshire Housing Limited and other similar organisations.

Notice Title

Wetherby Balconies Repais

Notice Description

Yorkshire Housing requires a suitably qualified and experienced Contractor to identify and repair balconies in Wetherby, West Yorkshire. Northfield Mews is a 4 storey block of flats constructed in 1992. The buildings are from conventional brick and blockwork masonry walls with concrete floors and a tile covered duopitched hipped roof. The building is arranged as two blocks with a near central connecting building containing the access staircase. The flats have access to balconies that are arranged as a three storey high steel framed structure fixed to the external brickwork outer leaf. The balcony frames also provide support to small sub roof sections overhead. Structural stability is provided by diagonal cross braces within the frames plus non slip profiled steel floor plates. Parts of the structure and floor plates have been affected by corrosion and it is proposed to rectify this by a combination of corrosion removal and repainting and partial plate removal to access corrosion and refitting plus repainting.
