Summary of the contracting process

The LONDON & QUADRANT HOUSING TRUST is in the planning stage of a procurement process for "Procurement for Wifi Access Points," which falls under the industry category of network equipment and infrastructure. This procurement exercise is being conducted to replace outdated Meraki Access Points across L&Q’s extensive network of over 230 remote sites, ensuring continued network reliability and compliance. The main location for this procurement is London, UK. Preliminary market engagement has been completed as of 7th November 2025, in accordance with the Procurement Act 2023. Interested parties can anticipate the issuance of a formal tender notice on or after 14th November 2025. The contract period for the procurement is scheduled to begin on 12th January 2026, potentially extending until 12th January 2031.

This tender represents a significant opportunity for businesses involved in network equipment supply, especially those capable of offering vendor-agnostic solutions. The LONDON & QUADRANT HOUSING TRUST is looking for innovation and value, with an emphasis on long-term supportability. This could be particularly advantageous for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) given the inclusive nature of the procurement process. Furthermore, businesses with expertise in network infrastructure who can demonstrate competitive and compliant solutions will find this procurement opportunity well-suited to their capabilities, ultimately fostering growth within the sector.

Notice Title

Procurement for Wifi Access Points

Notice Description

L&Q currently operates a large estate of over 230 remote sites supported by legacy Meraki Access Points (APs), many of which are approaching or have already reached end-of-support. Notably, 50 Meraki MR18 devices became unsupported as of 31 March 2024, with the remainder due to expire by July 2026. This presents a significant risk to network reliability, security, and compliance. In response, we have initiated a refresh project to modernise and standardise the AP infrastructure. While Thrive has provided recommendations based on Meraki technology, we are pursuing a vendor-agnostic and supplier-neutral procurement approach to ensure the selected solution aligns with our technical, operational, and commercial requirements. This strategy enables us to evaluate multiple vendors through structured trials and select the best-fit solution via a compliant public sector procurement route, ensuring long-term supportability and value for money.
