Summary of the contracting process

The Ministry of Defence has concluded the procurement process for the "Op Fortitude MOD Veterans External Homeless Referral Pathway". This initiative addresses homelessness among single veterans across the United Kingdom, offering supported housing pathways and preventative advice. The procurement process utilised a selective approach via a competitive flexible procedure, reaching the awarding phase as of 16 March 2026. The awarded contract commenced on 1 April 2026 and is set to run until 31 March 2029, with possibilities for extensions until 2031. The service covers the welfare services industry and operates nationwide, with significant engagement and support provided by Riverside Group Limited. The procurement aimed at ensuring homes for veterans aligns with legislative frameworks and contributes to broader government commitments.

This tender opens avenues for businesses involved in services catering to veteran welfare and supported housing solutions. Opportunities abound for organisations equipped to deliver housing support and advisory services, particularly large-scale enterprises and VCSEs capable of managing flexible procurement requirements. Businesses that have strong networks within veteran support or social welfare and experience in handling government contracts could significantly grow their service offerings and market presence. Riverside Group Limited, as a supplier, exemplifies the type of organisation that could successfully engage with such government initiatives, benefiting from collaboration with central government agencies like the Ministry of Defence. As this tender is nationwide, the scope for impact and growth extends throughout the UK.
