Summary of the contracting process

The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office is currently in the planning stage for the UK-Nigeria Growth Programme, aimed at mutual economic growth between the UK and Nigeria. The sector of focus is services related to foreign economic aid, with the procurement planned above the threshold of £10 million GBP. The programme includes a significant Early Market Engagement (EME) event scheduled for 21 January 2026, in Abuja, Nigeria, to share information about the objectives and engage market participants. In-person attendance is encouraged with a Teams option available. The entire programme will be executed from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2031, providing long-term opportunities for businesses.

This tender could offer a promising avenue for business growth, particularly for SMEs and VCSEs due to the diverse opportunities in non-oil sectors and the programme's focus on strengthening Nigeria's business environment. Businesses specialising in foreign economic aid services may find the programme conducive to direct investment and trade. Those prepared to engage actively in dialogue and provide innovative solutions for economic transformation could thrive, especially entities with experience in facilitating sustainable business growth and deepening integration into regional and global value chains.

Notice Title

UK-Nigeria Growth Programme

Notice Description

The programme aims to accelerate UK-Nigeria mutual economic growth by unlocking opportunities for private sector development. It will drive Nigeria's economic transformation through investment and trade to generate jobs through two pathways: (i) facilitating immediate direct private investment and trade in high-potential non-oil sectors capitalising on existing opportunities, and (ii) strengthening the enabling environment by improving Nigeria's business environment and investment conditions to support greater more sustainable business growth. These efforts will support Nigeria's structural change and deeper integration into regional and global value chains, laying the foundation for diversified, sustainable and transformative growth, with benefits that are broad-based.
