Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process for the "Distribution of Advanced Wound Care" is being led by NHS Shared Business Services Limited, in partnership with Supply Chain Coordination Limited. This planned procurement, currently at the planning stage as of 25 November 2025, is set within the services industry category, specifically targeting courier services. The process aims to establish an open framework agreement for the delivery of advanced wound care products across the NHS, applicable in the UK, Guernsey, Isle of Man, and Jersey regions. The procurement adheres to the open procedure method, with tender submissions accepted electronically in English, and has a tender period ending on 24 April 2026, followed by an award period concluding by 10 November 2026. The contract, valued at £91 million, is expected to start on 4 January 2027 and last until 3 January 2031.

This tender presents significant growth opportunities for businesses specializing in logistics and distribution, particularly those focusing on healthcare products. Companies with capabilities in sustainability and social value are likely to have an advantage, as these elements are heavily weighted in the tender evaluation. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community and social enterprises (VCSEs) are encouraged to participate due to the framework's suitability considerations. The collaborative procurement route aims to foster partnerships between NHS organisations and suppliers, providing a platform for innovation and the efficient distribution of medical products, ultimately benefiting NHS-approved organisations with streamlined access to advanced wound care solutions.
