Summary of the contracting process

The public procurement process initiated by the Metropolitan Borough of Bury focuses on a pre-market engagement session for a "Care at Home" tender. This procurement falls under the "Health and Social Work Services" industry category, targeting service provision within the UK's Northwest region, specifically in area UKD36. As of the most recent update, the process is in the planning stage, with a milestone event—a webinar scheduled for 9th December 2025 via MS Teams. Interested suppliers must submit their request to participate by 5th December 2025. This engagement is part of an above-threshold procurement subject to a light-touch regime, indicating a more flexible approach in tendering such services.

This opportunity presents notable potential for business growth, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community and social enterprises (VCSEs). Companies specialising in proactive, person-centred health and social care services could benefit significantly from this contract. By participating, businesses can influence future tender specifications and expand their service offerings within the local community. The procurement method encourages innovative solutions to promote independence and enhance individual wellbeing, thereby opening numerous avenues for providers who can adapt their services to these requirements. The contract period extends from 24th October 2026 to 23rd October 2028, with the possibility of renewal, offering a long-term engagement for successful bidders.
