Summary of the contracting process

The NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership-Procurement Services, hosted by Velindre University NHS Trust, has announced a planned procurement process titled "Restoring Rapid Access: Fast Track Mental Health Support Across the Vale." This procurement falls under the Health and Social Work Services industry category and is set to take place in the UK, specifically in the Cardiff and Vale area. It follows the planning stage, intending to help reinstate the mental health fast track pathway for the Central, Western, and Eastern Vale clusters of Cardiff and Vale University Health Board. A future notice is expected on 12th December 2025. This process utilises the Most Suitable Provider Process and is governed by the Health Services (Provider Selection Regime) (Wales) Regulations 2025, excluding the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 and the Procurement Act 2023.

This tender offers significant business opportunities for service providers specialising in health and social services, particularly those experienced in delivering rapid mental health assessments and short-term support. Companies with expertise in handling urgent mental health referrals, integrating social prescribing, and managing high-volume patient interactions would find this tender attractive. The procurement aims to procure a two-year service to deliver urgent mental health assessments within 24 hours of referral and provide up to 6-8 one-on-one sessions per patient, addressing approximately 1,041 patients annually. Businesses that can offer timely, effective, and holistic mental health support will be well-suited to bid for this contract, presenting them with a chance to expand their footprint in the public healthcare sector and contribute to improved community health outcomes.
