Summary of the contracting process

Transport for London (TfL), a central government public authority, is in the planning stage of a procurement process for the supply of air system hoses for the Bakerloo Line 72TS. The procurement is classified under rolling stock and parts of locomotives or rolling stock industry categories. This tender aims to connect with potential suppliers through an Early Market Engagement (EME) phase, starting with a preliminary notice issued on 4th December 2025. Interested suppliers must respond by 1 week after the PME Notice, with a full response due by 6 pm on 8th January 2026. This process focuses on identifying suitable products and aligning them with TfL's standards in preparation for the tendering stage later in 2026.

This EME offers significant opportunities for businesses specialising in pneumatic systems or rolling stock equipment to engage with TfL and help shape the specifications for a best-in-class air system hose solution. The nature of this engagement encourages businesses with technical expertise and innovation capacity within the rail industry to step forward. Suppliers can leverage this engagement to demonstrate their capabilities and influence the procurement strategy, paving the way for future tender participation. It is an ideal opportunity for companies with experience in supplying components for train systems to establish partnerships that could expand their footprint in public transport projects within the United Kingdom.
