Summary of the contracting process

Slough Borough Council has concluded the procurement process for the "Mental Health Supported Accommodation Service," focusing on services designed to support adults with severe mental illness. The procurement, initiated through an open procedure, involves commissioning two primary lots: Lot 1 offers high-support step-down accommodation, and Lot 2 provides medium to low support options for residents transitioning to independent living in three or more Slough-based buildings. The contract period commences on 1 July 2026 and spans one year, with a potential 12-month extension. Key players in this extensive procurement include the supplier, Look Ahead Care and Support Limited. The contracted services aim to enhance mental health recovery by fostering stability and independence in a structured living environment. Key dates from the process include a supplier engagement session held on 19 December 2025 and the contract awarding in March 2026.

This procurement presents significant opportunities for businesses within the health and social care sector, particularly those with experience in providing accommodation-based support services. Organisations capable of delivering structured, recovery-focused support programmes will find this opportunity beneficial. The open procedure allows for a competitive tendering process, where quality and price form the basis of award criteria. With a substantial budget allocated to different levels of support accommodation, businesses specialising in healthcare services, particularly in psychiatric rehabilitation and supported living services, are well-suited to leverage this contract for growth and service expansion in the region.
