Summary of the contracting process

Worthing Borough Council is planning a procurement process for the stray dog collection and kennelling service across the Adur District, Worthing Borough, and Arun District. This process aims to appoint contracts through an open tender process across up to two lots. The procurement involves service provision from 1st April 2026 for a term of five years, divided into an initial two-year period followed by up to three one-year extensions. This contract, expected to commence on 12th January 2026, falls under the services category and targets dog kennel services with a projected value of £210,000. Interested suppliers are encouraged to sign up via the Delta e-procurement portal before the engagement deadline of 12th January 2026.

This tender offers significant opportunities for businesses that specialise in dog kennel services, particularly those able to operate within West Sussex or neighbouring regions. Smaller enterprises (SMEs) and Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprises (VCSEs) boasting a valid dog kennel boarding licence are well-positioned to compete. With an average of 120 stray dogs collected yearly across the involved councils, this contract provides a substantial recurring service opportunity, fostering business growth through consistent demand and the potential for long-term client relationships. Firms with the ability to provide comprehensive care, including owner collection management and unclaimed stray services, will find this an advantageous business prospect.
