Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process for the Ultrasonic Rail Frequency Detection Services Framework has been completed by Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd. This framework, aimed at providing ultrasonic testing services, falls under the railway track inspection services category and serves the southern region of Network Rail, including high-speed tracks. The project, worth £10,700,000, was initiated through a competitive tender via RISQS and employs a selective procurement method using a negotiated procedure with a prior call for competition. The contract was signed on 15th December 2025, and spans an initial term of three years with an option to extend by up to two additional one-year periods, covering services in the UKJ region.

This tender offers substantial business growth opportunities for companies operating within non-destructive testing and equipment supply sectors. Given the nature of the services and the technical quality and price investment, businesses equipped with trained ultrasonic rail detection operators and relevant testing equipment are well-suited to compete. Additionally, as a single-supplier framework, it provides the selected supplier, TrackSys Non-Destructive Testing Limited, with the prospect of long-term engagement. SMEs within railway services offering technologically innovative solutions or specialised equipment would find this framework particularly beneficial for expanding their market reach and establishing themselves in the industry.
