Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process is being initiated by Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust in London, focusing on securing Clerk of Work Services. This tender process is at the planning stage and falls under the industry category of construction-related services, specifically concerning construction supervision and management. The proposed timeline for the project starts with an engagement milestone due on 15 January 2026, while the anticipated contract period will commence on 1 April 2026 and conclude on 31 March 2031. The estimated value of the project stands at £2,400,000. The procurement is yet to determine the exact method, with both open competition and framework competitions being considered. Key discussions include selecting the appropriate type of contract and pricing mechanism, targeting a market release towards the end of January 2026.

This tender presents substantial opportunities for businesses in the construction services sector, particularly those offering expertise in supervision and management services. SMEs are specifically encouraged, given the criteria for competitiveness. The Trust is keen on embedding social values, such as apprenticeships, within the contract, which aligns with businesses focusing on social enterprise and community benefit. Businesses familiar with NHS frameworks or those capable of providing flexible pricing and high-quality construction management services would be at an advantage in this procurement opportunity, thus paving the way for expansion and further engagement in public sector projects.
