Summary of the contracting process

The London Borough of Hackney is in the planning stage of procuring a main contractor for a housing project at the Selman & Wellday car park and garage site. The contracting authority, classified as a sub-central government public authority, has initiated this tender under the procurement category 'works,' specifically concerning construction. The location is within Hackney, London, under the region UKI41. The preliminary market engagement is currently underway to gauge contractor interest, with responses due by 6th February 2026.

This procurement offers significant business growth opportunities, particularly for main contractors experienced in delivering affordable residential projects in London. With a planned contract value of £12,000,000, suitable for SMEs, this tender seeks expertise in low-energy certification such as Passivhaus or AECB standards. Construction firms with capacity to commence work by autumn 2026, who can provide innovative solutions to construction logistics challenges, would be well-positioned to bid in the subsequent tender process. Interested parties are encouraged to register their interest and provide feedback on the proposed procurement strategy through the specified portal.
