Summary of the contracting process

The North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust is embarking on a procurement process titled "2026 Online Event NSCHT Crisis Alternative Provision for Stoke on Trent & North Staffordshire". This initiative, managed in conjunction with the NHS Midlands and Lancashire Commissioning Support Unit, falls under the services category, specifically targeting social work and related services. The procurement is currently at the planning stage, with key engagement dates set: an online event scheduled for 25th February 2026 and a registration deadline of 17th February 2026. The event aims to explore market offerings for a Crisis House/Sanctuary service in lieu of hospital admissions, aligning with NHS England's Quality Transformation Programme. Located in the UKG23 region, the process is part of a Light Touch Regime under the Procurement Act 2023, with a due diligence evaluation by February 17th. The contract's estimated value approximates £1,875,000 over five years, including extension options.

This procurement presents significant business opportunities, particularly for service providers experienced in mental health crisis interventions. Companies specializing in mental health care, social work services, or those capable of providing a stable crisis alternative environment are likely to benefit. The engagement event will offer insights into the local service landscape and desired outcomes, providing potential suppliers valuable access to decision-makers' perspectives. Participation could allow businesses to better tailor their offerings to fit the NHS's strategic direction and be well-positioned for subsequent competitive opportunities advertised later. This process thus supports growth by enabling businesses to establish partnerships within the public sector and leverage strategic ties with a leading health authority.
