Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process involves Dalston Parish Council, located in Dalston, Carlisle, which is inviting tenders for the complete re-roofing of a Grade II listed building. The tender is specifically targeted within the goods category, focusing on roofing. The process is currently in the tender stage with an open procurement method. Business entities interested in participating must submit their bids by 12 noon on Monday, 23rd February 2026, following the specified submission guidelines. The contract is particularly noteworthy as it addresses the conservation of a historic building while taking into account environmental aspects such as the presence of bats, requiring specific licensing and safety measures.

This tender offers significant business growth opportunities for roofing contractors with expertise in handling heritage building projects and managing strict environmental requirements. It's particularly suited to SMEs due to reserved participation. The project, valued at £40,000, encompasses skill-intensive tasks, including the careful removal and replacement of existing roofing materials in alignment with heritage standards. Considering the specialised nature of the work, businesses well-versed in traditional construction techniques and experienced in managing complex site logistics during ongoing occupancy would be highly competitive.
