Summary of the contracting process

The Ministry of Defence, located in Bristol, is inviting tenders for the "Provision of Social Worker Services for British Forces South Atlantic Islands (BFSAI)". This procurement, categorised under welfare services, primarily targets children and young people and is intended to support military personnel and their families. The procurement stage is currently active, with an open procedure method and submissions due by 10:00 AM on 17th March 2026. The awarding decision is expected by 23:59 PM on 23rd March 2026, with services commencing from 1st July 2026 for three years, possibly extending to five years.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in social work services, particularly those experienced in adapting statutory and non-statutory services to diverse needs across unique environments. The contract, valued at £550,000, calls for expertise in delivering welfare services under challenging conditions that differ from typical UK local authority settings. Companies with a strong track record in providing flexible and accessible welfare support, especially in a military context, are well-suited to compete. Successful contractors will demonstrate the ability to manage the intersection between welfare and operational effectiveness, potentially leading to business growth and an expanded service portfolio in the public sector.
