Summary of the contracting process

NHS England has concluded a procurement process titled "User involvement in the NHS Diabetes Programme" which focuses on engaging end users in the programme's delivery. The procurement falls under the health services industry category, with NHS England headquartered in London being the buying organisation. The procurement was conducted via a direct award method to address the lack of competitive rivalry and leverage the unique expertise and networks of the supplier. The contract duration was from 13th February 2026 to 31st March 2026, and it concluded with a contract termination notice on 15th June 2026, following the successful delivery of the engagement programme with a final gross contract value of £170,388.

This contract highlights significant business growth potential for organisations operating within the public health service realm, particularly those with expertise in patient engagement and programme delivery. Businesses like Diabetes UK, the awarded supplier, which possess unique access to health networks and consumer insight capabilities, are well-suited to such procurement opportunities. Organisations that can establish themselves as leaders in health service innovation and patient-oriented solutions may explore similar opportunities to expand their influence and grow their consumer base through strategic partnerships with public health bodies.
