Summary of the contracting process

The NHS Humber and North Yorkshire Integrated Care Board has successfully awarded a contract for Non-Emergency Patient Transport Services to the Yorkshire Ambulance Trust NHS Trust. The contract covers health services specifically within the geographical regions of East Riding of Yorkshire, Hull, North Lincolnshire, North Yorkshire, and York. This procurement falls under the Provider Selection Regime and has been awarded without the prior publication of a call for competition. The contract was awarded on 11 February 2026 and runs from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2031, with an approximate lifetime value of £84,423,015. Key criteria for the award included quality, innovation, value, integration, collaboration, and social value, ensuring providers demonstrate robust clinical governance, efficiency, and contribution to local economic and environmental well-being.

The awarded contract for Non-Emergency Patient Transport Services presents substantial business growth opportunities for enterprises specialising in healthcare logistics. Specifically, businesses equipped with specialised patient transport vehicles and skilled personnel can leverage this contract to enhance client services within the NHS framework. The focus on quality and innovation suggests that service providers who can offer adaptable, patient-centred transport solutions and who demonstrate an ability to integrate their transport services with the broader health system will be highly prioritised. The alignment with the NHS Greener policy further incentivises businesses committing to sustainable practices. Companies aiming to reduce health inequalities while ensuring equitable access to care would find this contract beneficial for expanding their service footprint within the region.
