Summary of the contracting process

The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office has initiated planning for the procurement of medical, life, and local staff workmen compensation insurances for the British Embassy in Beirut, Lebanon. This procurement, under the category of services, is currently in the planning stage, with a market engagement notice published on 19 February 2026. The deadline for market engagement is set for 6 March 2026, with the formal tender notice expected to be released shortly after, on 13 March 2026. The contract is valued at £910,000 and will initially cover one year starting from 1 August 2026, with the potential extension for up to two additional years, subject to annual renewal.

This procurement offers significant opportunities for companies specialising in insurance services, particularly those providing medical and life insurance. Businesses with expertise in servicing international clients and having operations or partnerships in the Middle East, especially Lebanon, would be especially well-positioned to compete. As a part of the central government, the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office's project not only represents a substantial financial opportunity but also the potential to forge strategic relationships with key governmental stakeholders. Engaging in this procurement process can facilitate business growth through expanding service offerings in foreign markets and potentially securing recurring government contracts.
