Summary of the contracting process

Tamworth Borough Council is currently in the planning phase of a tender for the Gungate Regeneration Project, a large-scale redevelopment initiative located in Tamworth town centre. The project covers approximately 6.82 acres and aims to connect the town centre with Tamworth Railway Station, making it a strategically significant opportunity for regional growth. Organisations interested in participating are invited to complete a Soft Market Testing Questionnaire by 1pm on 27 March 2026 to help inform the procurement strategy. The project falls under the 'works' industry category, encompassing construction and architectural services, and is poised to launch later in 2026, subject to market engagement outcomes.

This tender presents a substantial opportunity for businesses involved in construction, architecture, and engineering to contribute to the revitalisation of a key area in Tamworth. Given the scale and significance of the Gungate Regeneration Project, firms with experience in large-scale developments, keen on expanding their market presence in the Midlands, would find this an appealing prospect. By participating in the preliminary market engagement, companies can help shape the future procurement process and disclose their interest, potentially positioning themselves as front-runners when the official tender is launched.
