Summary of the contracting process

The West Yorkshire Combined Authority, acting as the buyer for West Yorkshire Police, has concluded an open procurement process titled "Supply of Miscellaneous Tyres," with a focus on the automobile industry. This initiative, under the procurement ID 207-TRAN-25, concluded its award phase on 1st July 2026. The primary objective was to solicit suppliers for a comprehensive range of tyre brands to meet the varied needs of the police vehicle fleet, covering cars and motorcycles. The contract, valued at £600,000 with an overall gross ceiling of £720,000, encompasses the delivery of Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) tyres to multiple locations across the West Yorkshire region. The awarded contract period stretches from 20th July 2026 to 19th July 2030, and includes the establishment of a framework agreement to ensure streamlined supply to both the Transport Department in Wakefield and selected third-party sites in Leeds and Huddersfield.

This contract presents significant opportunities for tyre manufacturers and distributors, especially those capable of providing a diverse set of tyre solutions suitable for various vehicle types including motorcycles, passenger vehicles, and large goods vehicles. Businesses particularly adept at managing stockholding, supply chain logistics, and rapid delivery timescales will find themselves well-positioned under this agreement, which is open to both large enterprises and SMEs. The open procedure intended to foster competitive pricing and innovative supply solutions, offering potential entry into a four-year framework with ongoing collaboration opportunities. The presence of a framework agreement creates a sustainable avenue for growth, allowing suppliers to secure consistent business and potentially expand their market presence within the public sector.
