NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is currently at the tender stage for a procurement process titled "GGC1014 Building Materials." This process is designed to source various building materials essential for maintaining and repairing its sites across the Glasgow region, identified as UKM82. NHSGGC aims to establish a framework agreement with an estimated total value of GBP342,858.4 over four years, supporting both planned and reactive maintenance activities through a consistent supply of quality materials. The procurement follows an open procedure and includes a mini-competition threshold for orders exceeding GBP3,500. Interested parties are encouraged to submit electronic bids by 20th April 2026, following all submission guidelines. The procurement falls under the goods category within the building materials industry.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses in the building materials supply sector to expand their operations by becoming a key supplier for NHSGGC. Particularly, companies with a strong track record of delivering high-quality materials, maintaining compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards, and demonstrating operational reliability are well-suited to compete. SMEs might benefit from improved access to public contracts thanks to Scotland's Procurement Reform Programme, which emphasises local, social, and economic sustainability. Suppliers can expect potential growth through consistent long-term engagement and community benefits outlined by NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde in this framework agreement. The contract provides mechanisms for initial engagement with direct call-offs and further competition based on performance and value delivery.

Community benefits are included in this requirement. For more information see: https://www.gov.scot/policies/public-sector-procurement/community-benefits-in-procurement/ A summary of the expected community benefits has been provided as follows: The Scottish Model of Procurement aims to secure the maximum economic benefit from the GBP10 billion spent by the public sector on goods and services each year, through an approach that balances the business friendly and the socially responsible. The Public Procurement Reform Programme delivers value that goes beyond savings and benefits - improving supplier access to public contracts, particularly for SMEs; maximising efficiency and collaboration; and placing the local, social and economic aspects of sustainability at the heart of the purchasing process. The Procurement Reform (Scotland) Act 2014 established a national legislative framework for sustainable public procurement that supports Scotland's economic growth through improved procurement practice - and requires public bodies to consider how their procurement activity can improve the economic, social and environmental wellbeing of the authority's area. It also specifically requires public bodies to consider imposing community benefit requirements as part of a major contract; these might relate to, for example, employment opportunities or to sub-contracting opportunities. The NHS GGC Mandatory Question is detailed in the specification document under the mandatory section.
