Summary of the contracting process

Dumfries and Galloway Council is planning to commission an independent Children's Advocacy Service, as part of their commitment to providing professional advocacy for children and young people. This tender, categorised under social work services, is slated for a future notice date of 17th April 2026. The procurement process is in the planning stage and aims to address the needs of children under various statutory requirements across the UKM92 region. Dumfries and Galloway Council, a regional authority, will oversee this procurement initiative, ensuring the service aligns with the statutory requirements and Scottish Executive priorities.

This planned procurement presents significant growth opportunities for businesses specialising in advocacy services, particularly those offering issue-focused, child-centred, and age-appropriate support. Companies with expertise in handling cases related to children and young people under the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003, as well as those on the Child Protection Register, may find this tender particularly relevant. With an emphasis on providing independent, confidential advocacy to an inclusive demographic, firms dedicated to developing self-advocacy and promoting choice could leverage this opportunity to expand their footprint within the region.
