Summary of the contracting process

The Worcestershire County Council is currently engaging in the tendering process for the Domestic Abuse Support Service, a vital initiative outlined in the Domestic Abuse Act 2021. This procurement falls under the services category, specifically targeting health and social work services. The procurement method being used is an open procedure, which is part of a “light touch” regime, indicating that it bypasses the stringent rules generally applied to public procurements to allow more flexibility. Key dates for interested parties include an enquiry period ending on 18th September 2026 and a tender submission deadline on 28th September 2026. The services must be provided in the UKG12 region, with the contract slated to commence on 1st April 2027 and run until 31st March 2033. The estimated contract value is approximately £6.75 million, with the full gross amount at about £8.1 million.

This tender offers substantial business growth opportunities, particularly for organisations specialising in social work and having a focus on domestic abuse support services. SMEs and VCSEs might find this tender particularly attractive as excellence in quality, partnership, and social value are among the selection criteria. Businesses with experience in managing outreach services and safe accommodations for vulnerable groups and survivors of domestic abuse could leverage this opportunity to expand their footprint in the public sector. Furthermore, engagement from diverse organisations capable of addressing specific needs of minority groups is highly desirable to ensure the service's success across Worcestershire. Successful delivery could also enhance reputational value and establish long-term partnerships with the Worcestershire County Council and its stakeholders.
