Summary of the contracting process

The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office is currently in the planning stage for the procurement of medical aid insurance services for the British High Commission in Accra, Ghana. The procurement process aims to secure comprehensive insurance coverage for staff members and their dependants, with the contract expected to commence on 1st October 2026 and lasting for 36 months, potentially extendable by another year subject to performance. This engagement is vital in assessing the market’s capacity to deliver services effectively, including policy underwriting, claims administration, and servicing, against expected benefit constraints. Ideal candidates will be those who can demonstrate robust capabilities in medical insurance provisioning, compliance with regulatory frameworks, and efficient data protection measures. Businesses that excel in member support and employ transparent costing models stand to benefit greatly from this procurement. This is a chance for such companies to expand their influence by partnering with a significant central government public authority and accessing a new client pool. As this is an engagement and not a competition, interested suppliers should utilise the platform to provide their insight without affecting their future bidding capabilities.
