Notice Description

This contract relates solely to the provision of Varenicline and Cytisinicline via an online pharmacy under a Patient Group Direction (PGD), for eligible patients referred by North Northamptonshire Council Stop Smoking Service. The stop smoking service provides 12 weeks of support to local smokers and expects to work with 1,761 people per year in year one of the contract (2026-27). This is expected to gradually increase to 2,200 people per year between 2027 and 2029 of the contract. However, not all will have access to use nicotine free medicines as part of their smoking cessation pathway. As per the National Institute of Health and Care Excellence guidelines, the service encourages smokers to use nicotine-free medicines. Aims and objectives; o Improve access to and choice of pharmacological smoking cessation aids o Assist in delivery of local smoking cessation targets o Reduce smoking-related illnesses, deaths and inequalities; o Improve population health by reducing passive exposure to smoke.
