Summary of the contracting process

The NHS Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Integrated Care Board is in the process of awarding a contract for the Long-COVID Fatigue Service as part of their Provider Selection Regime (PSR). The service, classified under the health services industry category, focuses on managing fatigue in individuals experiencing ongoing post-COVID-19 symptoms. The contract is intended to be awarded to Primary Integrated Community Services (PICS), with provision scheduled from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027 in the Nottinghamshire area, covering regions UKF14, UKF15, and UKF16. This award follows a direct award procedure without prior competition, compliant with the Health Care Services Regulations 2023, and currently marks the start of the standstill period, ending on 7 May 2026.

The tender offers business growth opportunities, particularly for large-scale health services providers experienced in handling post-COVID-19 related health care. As the contracting arrangements are not changing significantly, businesses should be prepared to meet high-quality service standards, focusing on the assessment and management of fatigue. Organisations that excel in maintaining service quality, akin to the existing provider, stand a better chance in this procurement process. Overall, competition may be limited due to the nature of the awarding procedure, providing a strategic advantage to those well-versed with community-based healthcare service provisions.
