Summary of the contracting process

Scottish Borders Council is actively seeking submissions for the reopening of its framework agreement titled "Funded Early Learning and Childcare Places Framework Agreement - Reopening May 2026". This procurement process is classified under the services category, specifically involving child daycare services, with a focus on early learning and childcare for children aged 2 to 4 years. The Council is appealing to providers from voluntary, independent, and private settings across the UKM91 region. This initiative follows an open procurement method under the Light Touch Regime as permitted by Schedule 3 of the Public Contracts (Scotland) Regulations. Interested organisations must submit their applications electronically by 1st June 2026, adhering to the specified national standards and other legal requirements.

This tender offers significant opportunities for business growth in the childcare sector, especially for businesses adept in providing nursery and childminding services that meet rigorous national and legislative standards. With a contract value of up to £3,000,000, participation in this framework could significantly boost the service offerings of qualified providers and expand their presence within the Scottish Borders area. Businesses specialising in pre-school education and those registered with appropriate regulatory bodies, such as the Care Inspectorate, will be well-positioned to benefit from this contract. This is an open chance for innovative childcare providers to sustain their business growth by integrating into a structured framework that supports funded early education initiatives.
