Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process, spearheaded by the buying organisation JISC, focuses on establishing an "Education, Research, Technology and Innovation Open Framework." As a public authority operating under sub-central government, JISC is located at 4 Portwall Lane, Bristol, UK. This planning stage of procurement is a precursor to a formal tender process anticipated, with a provisional future notice date set for 1st May 2027. The procurement, categorised under education and training services, highlights the development of a competitive flexible procedure to establish a framework covering research, innovation, and technology with a planned start date of 1st November 2027. The total estimated framework value is £1,600,000 with a projected gross ceiling of £2,000,000, subject to refinement and funding availability.

This tender represents a substantial opportunity for businesses in the technology and education sectors, particularly SMEs and VCSEs, due to its framework agreement structure. The focus on digital transformation and immersive technologies presents fertile ground for companies that specialise in these innovative areas. The decision to use a flexible competitive procedure allows for tailored approaches, fostering partnerships with businesses adept in research and scholarly communications. Such opportunities can significantly enhance business portfolios by involving them in cutting-edge projects aligned with emerging trends and needs in education technology and innovation within the UK.
