Summary of the contracting process

The NHS South Yorkshire Integrated Care Board has confirmed the contract award for Meds2U Limited under the Provider Selection Regime for pharmacy services for the 2026/27 period. The contract, valued at £1.00 GBP, will deliver locally enhanced services tailored to the Barnsley population in South Yorkshire, running from April 1, 2026, to March 31, 2027. This contract award follows a direct process without a prior competitive tender and is part of the Health Care Services Provider Selection Regime Regulations 2023, outside the remit of the Public Contracts Regulations 2015. The procurement method was limited, specifically without a call for competition, with a focus on interdependency with the Community Pharmacy Contractual Framework.

This tender provides business growth opportunities by engaging existing pharmacy service providers like Meds2U Limited, that can integrate enhanced services under the Community Pharmacy Contractual Framework. It offers targeted involvement for pharmacies capable of meeting specified criteria and interdependent service delivery conditions, aiming to leverage local activity pricing. The procurement approach facilitates steady demand for pharmacy services while enhancing delivery capabilities in the South Yorkshire region. This opportunity is especially beneficial for large-scale pharmacy providers familiar with the regional healthcare landscape.

Notice Title

NHS South Yorkshire ICB Barnsley - Meds2U Limited Pharmacy Contract 2026/27

Notice Description

The provider is commissioner to deliver locally enhanced services for the Barnsley population integrated with their additional pharmacy contracts.

Lot Information

Lot 1

The Contract Award has been made following direct award process B under the Provider Selection Regime.

This contract is awarded to an existing provider for an existing service. Although we would not restrict the number of providers who deliver these LCS services provided they meet the contract and specification criteria, the primary reason that these services can only be delivered by this group of providers (pharmacy) is because they are required to hold a contract via the Community Pharmacy Contractual Framework (CPCF) and deliver the LCS alongside these services; the LCS is designed to enhance the (CPCF) contract and not stand alone, therefore, interdependency between the two services is paramount. For this reason not every Pharmacy delivers every LCS.

The provider is paid on an activity basis based on local prices.

The contract runs from 01/04/2026 to 31/03/2027.
