Summary of the contracting process

NHS England is conducting an early market engagement exercise for the East of England Bowel Cancer Screening Programme, which falls under the health services industry category. The initiative is currently in the planning stage, with emphasis on market testing rather than committing to a procurement process at this time. Interested providers should note that existing contracts remain effective and the procurement will follow the Provider Selection Regime Notice in line with the HealthCare Services regulations of 2023. The programme is based in West Essex, and feedback is sought to inform the future procurement strategy. Potential participants are required to express their interest and complete a questionnaire by 10:00 am on 2nd June 2026, via the NHS England eTendering portal.

This tender presents growth opportunities for businesses in the health sector, particularly for those specialising in gastroenterologist services. It is an ideal opportunity for companies equipped to implement a systematic, quality-assured population-based screening programme targeting individuals aged 50 to 74. Businesses that can provide innovative solutions for service delivery and have the capability to work with the specified national service specifications are encouraged to participate. Engaging in this early assessment phase can position businesses to better align with the forthcoming procurement requirements and potentially secure a contract once the formal process is initiated.
