Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process initiated by the Department for Education is currently in the planning stage, as of 20th May 2026, and focuses on developing an IT structure for Future Data Collection in the education sector. The aim is to collect and manage high-quality data to improve estate management and education outcomes. This services contract covers the software and data services industry category, with the procurement method being selective, using frameworks such as Technology Services 4 or G-Cloud 14. The contract, valued at £5 million, will commence on 1st May 2027 and run until the end of April 2032, with operations centred in the United Kingdom.

This tender presents significant opportunities for IT service suppliers specialising in data services and software development. Businesses that are adept at providing comprehensive technology solutions for data collection and management, particularly those familiar with working within government frameworks like Technology Services 4 and G-Cloud, will be well-positioned to benefit from this opportunity. The project's scope allows for competitive involvement, and those capable of delivering high-quality, reliable IT solutions to streamline data management processes in education will find this tender advantageous for growing their portfolio within the public sector.

Notice Title

Future Data Collection: IT

Notice Description

FDC will develop a structure to collect granular, good quality, timely and comparable data across the lifecycle of the education estate that enables RBs to manage their estate effectively and the department to target investment, support and advice to drive better outcomes and opportunities for children and learners. This underpins the Education Estate Directorate (EED) vision to support brilliant education and care outcomes through an estate that is safe, sustainable, and sufficiently sized. CDC programmes have successfully provided a credible picture of the condition of school and college estate informing the Departments ability to allocate funding where most needed. We want to build on these, whilst delivering the objectives of the EED Data Strategy, to support RBs to collect the full range of data they need to manage their estate (wider than condition). An IT Services supplier will be required to provide technology services. The supplier will provide the IT Solution for the data collection, two way data sharing and report release activity. The Department is considering a call-off from Technology Services 4 (RM6190) or G-Cloud 14 (RM1557.14). The specific lot or lots will be determined as the project develops. The final contract will have a 3 to 5 year lifespan.
