Summary of the contracting process

The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), based in Bristol, United Kingdom, has commenced a procurement process in the planning stage for the Calibration, Repair, and Maintenance of Weigh Pads for Enforcement and IVA 2026. This initiative falls under the services industry category, specifically calibration services (CPV code 50433000), and it includes elements categorised under goods. The DVSA is seeking to engage with the market through a Preliminary Market Engagement Notice issued as a Request for Information (RFI), running from 21st May to 4th June 2026. Interested parties can obtain access to the RFI documents via email. The tender has an estimated value of £600,000, with a gross amount of £720,000, and aims to start contracts from 3rd October 2026, lasting until 2nd October 2028, with potential extensions until 2030.

This tender offers significant opportunities for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and Voluntary, Community, and Social Enterprises (VCSEs) interested in expanding their business in the public sector, particularly those specialising in calibration services and related equipment supply. Companies capable of providing high-quality maintenance, repair, and verification services for portable weighing equipment, and those able to supply occasional calibrated, verified rental equipment, are well-positioned to compete. Engaging in this procurement could also cultivate long-term relationships with a central government agency, enhancing business profiles in public sector engagements.
