Notice Information
Notice Title
Tameside Leisure & Wellbeing Service
Notice Description
The future leisure & wellbeing service will have three core elements: - Leisure and Active Wellbeing Centres (Leisure Centres). - Active Communities (Health & Wellbeing, Sports Development). - System Leadership (Advice & Guidance). TMBC has developed a broad portfolio of leisure facilities, with the most recent centre, the Tameside Wellness Centre, opening in 2020. Conditions surveys undertaken across the portfolio in 2026 have highlighted the need for a lifecycle investment programme which TMBC has committed to. TMBC is also developing a Leisure Investment Strategy, informed by a recent Leisure Build Facilities Strategy and upcoming Playing Pitch Strategy, to define investment plans for the development of the leisure portfolio over the next 5-10 years. It is TMBC's intention that this will include development of a new facility to replace Ashton Leisure Centre (closed in 2023) and consider development options for Active Copley linked to the facility's age and condition.
Planning Information
It is the ambition of the Council to seek confidential responses from operators to a brief set of questions which explore potential partnership options. This will inform the Council's approach to the development of its Procurement Strategy and contract documents. The Council have set a deadline for responses by 5pm on June 26, 2026. All expressions of interests and clarification questions need to be submitted via the Council's tendering portal (The Chest).
