Summary of the contracting process

The University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust is in the planning stage of a procurement process for a managed service to support laboratory work in the Immunology department. This procurement focuses on acquiring goods and services, particularly in the medical equipment category, to automate and enhance the efficiency of the laboratory processes. The Trust, located at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, is conducting a pre-market engagement from 21st July to 5th August 2026, which includes site visits and virtual engagement sessions. The key deadline for interested suppliers to respond to this market engagement is 3rd July 2026, with a future tender notice expected by 25th September 2026.

This procurement presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in automated medical solutions, particularly those experienced in allergy serology, autoimmunity, cellular immunology, immunochemistry, and infectious immunology. Companies providing cutting-edge laboratory technologies, including enzyme immunoassays, flow cytometry, and ELISA for latent TB, would be well-suited to compete. Engaging in this tender could lead to substantial growth, offering suppliers a platform to showcase innovative solutions and establish partnerships within the UK's central government medical services sector.
