Summary of the contracting process

The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), located at Seacole Building, 2 Marsham Street, London, has completed a procurement process titled "Executive Master of Public Policy" under the industry category of services. The tender, initiated without competition due to being below the threshold, involved a direct award to the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). The contract, valued at £30,472 (exclusive of VAT), is set for the period from 1st July 2026 to 30th June 2028. This programme aims to enhance the analytical skills of Civil Servants dealing with public policy. The tender process transitioned from the tender stage to the award and contract stage between 9th and 10th June 2026.

This award presents growth opportunities for educational institutions and service providers specialising in executive education and training. The Executive Master of Public Policy programme is suited for large-scale organisations, given its focus and scale. Businesses in the educational sector, particularly those with expertise in developing policy-related academic courses, could benefit by aligning with such governmental contracts. The partnership with DEFRA may also open future collaboration opportunities with other government departments, as business organisations can demonstrate their capacity to deliver specialised training for civil servants and other public policy professionals.
