Notice Description
This service provides for the fitting, monitoring and removal of long-acting reversible contraceptive (LARC) devices by general practitioner services. The provision is for LARC contraceptive devices licensed for use in the UK, specifically Intrauterine Contraceptive Devices (IUDs/IUSs) and Subdermal Implants (SDIs); it does not include the contraceptive injection. The main aim of the service is to provide women resident in Somerset or registered with a Somerset general practice with highly reliable forms of contraception to prevent unintended pregnancy.

Description of the services to be provided: This service provides for the fitting, monitoring and removal of long-acting reversible contraceptive (LARC) devices by general practitioner services. The provision is for LARC contraceptive devices licensed for use in the UK, specifically Intrauterine Contraceptive Devices (IUDs/IUSs) and Subdermal Implants (SDIs); it does not include the contraceptive injection. The main aim of the service is to provide women resident in Somerset or registered with a Somerset general practice with highly reliable forms of contraception to prevent unintended pregnancy. An award has been made following Direct Award Process B Lifetime value: PS1,120,000 Duration: 01.04.2026 - 31.03.2028 (with the option to extend for a further 2 years) This is an existing service and the contracts have been award to a mixture of existing and new GP surgeries in Somerset.

This is a Provider Selection Regime (PSR) confirmation of contract award notice. This contract has been awarded under the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023. For the avoidance of doubt, the provisions of the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 do not apply to this award
