Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process titled "Consultant Support to Early Intervention" was conducted by the Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust, a body governed by public law, located in Manchester, UK. This tender, classified under the health services industry category, involves the provision of consultant support to the early intervention team. The process reached the award stage as of 11th June 2026, with the contract signed on 1st April 2026 for a total amount of £39,344 GBP. The procurement method was limited, applied as a direct award without prior publication of a call for competition, justified by the necessity for cross-specialty collaboration which cannot be realistically separated from other health services provided in the region.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses in the health services sector, particularly those capable of providing specialised consultancy for community health interventions. It is an excellent opportunity for large-scale health service providers who have existing collaborations with mental health trusts and the capability to deliver integrated health services. Companies involved in the management and delivery of mental health services, especially those focusing on youth care, could leverage this contract to expand their professional reach and enhance their organisational footprint within the Greater Manchester area, working closely with established NHS trusts.

Notice Description

Provision of Consultant Support to Early Intervention team.

Procurement Information

MFT is commissioned by NHS GM to provide community CAMHS services within the City of Manchester (as well as Salford & Trafford). GMMH is commissioned by NHS GM to provide early intervention services for the population of Manchester which includes for the provision of services to aged 14 and above. GMMH and MFT have worked in collaboration in order to develop the offering to this patient group. By commissioning specialist CAMHS consultant time from MFT it means GMMH can maintain a joined up approach to the delivery of mental health services to this age group. Therefore in the opinion of the Specialist Care Group leadership team there is no realistic alternative provider. The alternative would be to commission the GMMH CAMHS Team to provide this service, however it would not deliver the benefits of joined up working and service delivery for the client group in Manchester. Therefore the Care Group believes that it is acting fairly and transparently to in using Direct Award A of the PSR in order to award the sub-contract. This is provided for in the following regulation: ""a service that is interdependent with, and cannot realistically be provided separately from, another service which only that provider can realistically provide (e.g., because of a need for cross-specialty or cross-service working).
