Summary of the contracting process

The Environment Agency, a sub-central government public authority located in London, is undertaking a procurement process for the "Visual Asset Inspector Accreditation for Flood, Coastal and Environmental Assets." This tender pertains to the education and training services category and involves assessing whether Asset Inspectors can competently perform visual inspections. The procurement is currently active, with the tendering stage set to conclude on 3rd August 2026. The agency aims to commence the new contract by 22nd October 2026, following the expiration of the current contract. The open procedure method is employed for this tender, ensuring that procurement documents are accessible electronically without charge.

This procurement represents a significant opportunity for businesses involved in education and training services, particularly those capable of delivering comprehensive training programmes and accreditations in the field of asset inspections. SMEs and Voluntary Community and Social Enterprises (VCSEs) are particularly encouraged to participate, given the emphasis on technical quality, social value, and cost-effectiveness in the award criteria. The contract’s value is set at £500,000, illustrating a substantial investment in upskilling and certifications that could benefit businesses with expertise in delivering vocational training and those seeking to expand their operations within the public sector. The requirement for accreditation ensures that providers with advanced capabilities and an interest in long-term contracts are well-suited to compete successfully.
